About the Authors
Amanda Ragkousis and Rebecca Young are financial advisers and mums based on the Gold Coast. Passionate about empowering the next generation, they co-authored Little Money Makers — a fun, engaging children’s book that teaches kids to save a little, spend a little, and invest a little. Inspired by their own children and the realisation that vital money lessons were being lost in today’s cashless society, Amanda and Rebecca are on a mission to make financial literacy easy, fun, and accessible for every family.
Our Journey to Little Money Makers
We’re Amanda Ragkousis and Rebecca Young — financial and associate advisers based on the beautiful Gold Coast, and more importantly, proud mums.
Every day in our work, we help people make smart money choices, but at home we started noticing something worrying: our own kids — and so many others — were getting money for birthdays or special occasions, and the very first question they were asked was.
What are you going to spend it on?
Often, they didn’t even need or want anything… but still felt they had to rush out and spend it. That’s when it hit us — somewhere along the way, society stopped teaching kids the basics.
Save a little. Spend a little. Invest a little.
We also realised that modern life makes it harder to have these conversations at home. Families are time-poor, exhausted, and in today’s cashless society, the old “coins in a piggy bank” moment has almost disappeared. Without those hands-on lessons, kids risk missing out on vital skills for their future.
One day at work, we started talking about it — and that’s where Little Money Makers was born. We decided to write a fun, engaging storybook featuring our own children as the characters, showing kids (and parents) how to split their money into three simple parts: save, spend, and invest.
For us, this isn’t just a book.
It’s a way to empower the next generation with lifelong money habits. It’s about giving kids confidence, choices, and the ability to see money as a tool — not just something to spend.
